Perhaps we could use some kind of embedded database for storing the save games - SQL Lite for example. A queriable database of game structures; that could be powerful for future development and for the plugins, especially when it comes to handling numbers - after all, principally this game is about statistics.

However that is an uneducated suggestions since I don't know what kind of impact that might have on the code or how data structures are handling in the codebase at the moment.
